Ray Vega Hosts A Week Of Special Programming June 8-12 For The Burlington ReDiscover Jazz Festival
Friday Night Jazz Host Ray Vega will host a special week of evening jazz programs on VPR June 8-12, as part of the Burlington ReDiscover Jazz Festival.
The shows are part of the Burlington ReDiscover Jazz Festival, which was created after the in-person version of the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, which typically kicks off the first weekend of June, was canceled back in April.
The ReDiscover Jazz Hour will air from 8-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and conclude with Friday Night Jazz from 8-11 p.m. on Friday.
In keeping with the ethos of the in-person BDJF, the special programs will blend music by legendary artists like Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie, rising stars like Tia Fuller and Vermont’s own Jennifer Hartswick, and local artists including Audrey Bernstein, Brian McCarthy and Eight-02. The shows are in collaboration with the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts.
"I'm excited to revisit the sounds of the outstanding artists who have made their way to Burlington to perform at the Discover Jazz Festival,” Ray Vega said. “The artist list reads like the who's who of Jazz history of the last 75 years. In compiling the music for these broadcasts, I've come to the deep realization that we're so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be exposed to such a fantastic array of world class talent right here in our own backyard."
