This week, VPR and Vermont PBS received the regulatory approvals needed to proceed with the intended merger announced in September. The FCC has granted permission for the license transfer, and the IRS has granted tax-exempt status, clearing the way for the new organization to launch in July 2021.

“We are coming together to strengthen local media and better serve our community,” said Scott Finn, VPR’s President & CEO, who will serve as CEO of the integrated organization. “This regulatory approval is an important milestone, which allows us to roll up our sleeves and get to work.”

Vermont PBS and VPR will continue to operate independently until July. Over the next several months, they will focus on organizational design and systems integration to stand up the new organization.

Michelle leads the team that oversees station branding, marketing, events, communications, and audience services. She joined VPR in 2002.
