Sarah Ashworth

Vice President of News

Sarah Ashworth has been a news director, editor, producer and reporter at public radio stations around the country.  She most recently worked as an editor at Minnesota Public Radio.  Before that she was news director at New Hampshire Public Radio for five years.  During that time NHPR won two national Edward R. Murrow awards for Overall Excellence. In 2019 VPR also won a national Edward R. Murrow award for Overall Excellence and in 2020 for Investigative Reporting.

Sarah also previously worked at VPR as a producer and reporter for Vermont Edition, the station’s weekday news magazine.  She also was a producer of the Diane Rehm Show at WAMU in Washington, D.C.

Earlier in her career she served as an assistant professor of journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she helped launch the school’s public radio program and was news director of KBIA.

Sarah is also a graduate of the Sulzberger program in Executive Media Leadership at Columbia University and a fellow in the CPB's Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initative.
