Campaign 2018: Who Is Running For What In Vermont?

Campaigns for statewide and legislative candidates are now officialy underway after the May 31 filing deadline.

Campaigns for statewide and legislative candidates are now officialy underway after the May 31 filing deadline.

The deadline to file for elected office in Vermont was Thursday, May 31, and now campaigns for statewide and legislative candidates are officially underway. Here are the candidates just one day after the state's filing deadline:

U.S. Senate

  • Bernie Sanders (Independent, incumbent), who declared he'd seek re-election late last month.
  • Folasade Adeluola (Democrat), a Hillary Clinton supporter who filed in Indiana and now claims residency in Shelburne.
  • Rocky De La Fuente (Republican), a San Diego, Calif., resident who ran for President in 2016.
  • H. Brooke Paige (Republican), who's previously sought the Senate seat and multiple other offices in Vermont under varying party affiliations.
  • Jasdeep Pannu (Republican), an Essex attorney.
  • Lawrence Zupan (Republican), a Manchester-area realtor.

U.S. House

  • Peter Welch (Democrat, incumbent), seeking his seventh term in the House.
  • Dan Freilich (Democrat), a Navy doctor who's made campaign finance reform a central issue of his campaign.
  • Ben Mitchell (Democrat), a Democratic Socialist with a career in education.
  • H. Brooke Paige (Republican)
  • Anya Tynio (Republican), a West Charleston resident.

Governor

  • Phil Scott (Republican, incumbent), seeking reelection in a state that's gone 56 years since an incumbent gubernatorial candidate lost a bid for reelection.
  • Keith Stern (Republican), a conservative Republican and owner of Stern’s Quality Produce in White River Junction.
  • James Ehlers (Democrat), executive director of Lake Champlain International.
  • Christine Hallquist (Democrat), former CEO of the Vermont Electric Cooperative.
  • Brenda Siegel (Democrat), a Newfane resident and director of the Southern Vermont Dance Festival who says she's running to give low-income Vermonters a voice in government.
  • Ethan Sonneborn (Democrat), a 14-year-old year old Bristol resident promoting youth involvement in politics.

Lieutenant Governor

  • David Zuckerman (Progressive/Democrat, incumbent), seeking a second term in office.
  • H. Brooke Paige  (Republican) [Withdrew upon Don Turner entering the race.]
  • Don Turner (Republican), the Vermont State House Minority Leader representing Milton.

State Treasurer

  • Beth Pearce (Democrat, incumbent)
  • H. Brooke Paige (Republican)

Secretary of State

  • Jim Condos (Democrat, incumbent)
  • H. Brooke Paige (Republican)

Auditor

  • Doug Hoffer (Democrat, incumbent)
  • H. Brooke Paige (Republican)

Attorney General

  • T. J. Donovan (Democrat, incumbent)
  • H. Brooke Paige (Republican)
