Gov. Peter Shumlin Favors Hillary Clinton Over Bernie Sanders

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, shown here in Iowa in May, got Gov. Peter Shumlin's endorsement today when the governor took to Twitter to announce his pick over Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Sen. Bernie Sanders will kick off his 2016 presidential run in Burlington next Tuesday. Gov. Peter Shumlin apparently won’t be participating in the festivities.

About two hours after Sanders’ staff notified media of his waterfront announcement, Shumlin used his campaign Twitter account to announce his endorsement of Hillary Clinton:

Shumlin isn’t the first high-profile Vermont politician to side with Clinton over Sanders. Sen. Patrick Leahy previously threw his support behind the former New York senator.

The Vermont Statehouse is often called the people’s house. I am your eyes and ears there. I keep a close eye on how legislation could affect your life; I also regularly speak to the people who write that legislation.
