'Moving Beyond Race and Racism' In Vermont

The Rev. Rodney Patterson will be at the University of Vermont Monday for a conversation on race and racism in America.

Place names like Ferguson, Baltimore - and now, Columbia - have become synonymous with the public debate about race and racism in America.

But how does that conversation play out in Vermont, one of the whitest states in the country?

President and CEO of The Learner’s Group, The Rev. Rodney Patterson is the former Director of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Vermont, founder of Vermont’s first black church and author of a book, "Trumping the Race Card: A National Agenda - Moving Beyond Race and Racism." He's returning to the UVM on Monday to host one of those conversations.

This event is Monday, November 16, 2015 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. at UVM's Davis Center. Details are available at TrumpingTheRaceCard.com.

Melody is the Contributing Editor for But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids and the co-author of two But Why books with Jane Lindholm.
