My Place: The Class Records Story

Courtesy, Joel Najman
This is a detail from a 45-rpm-record label from Class Records, which operated in Los Angeles in the '50s and '60s

Class Records operated in Los Angeles from 1951 through 1963 and released some of the finest rhythm and blues and rock and roll of that period.

This week on My Place, the spotlight shines on the Class Record Company with memorable recordings by Bobby Day, Eugene Church, Googie Rene and others.

Joel has been a part of Vermont's radio scene since 1964. He began his career at WIPS in Ticonderoga, New York. In 1965, he moved to WFAD in Middlebury, Vermont, where he attended Middlebury College. Over the years, Joel worked at radio stations WJOY, WQCR, WDOT, WDEV and WVAA where he served at various times as Morning Announcer, Program Director and News Director.
