My Place: Songwriter Bob Hilliard

This week, Joel Najman's "My Place" program presents the story of Bob Hilliard, one of the finest tin pan alley tune smiths of his generation.

Bob Hilliard was a prolific pop music lyricist whose many hit songs both preceded the rock & roll explosion of the mid-1950's and continued well into the rock & roll 1960's.

This week Joel Najman's My Place program presents the story of one of the finest tin pan alley tune smiths of his generation, as well as an hour of his most memorable compositions and biggest hits. Danny Kaye, Patti Page and Gene McDaniels are among the top artists who have recorded Bob Hilliard's songs.

Joel has been a part of Vermont's radio scene since 1964. He began his career at WIPS in Ticonderoga, New York. In 1965, he moved to WFAD in Middlebury, Vermont, where he attended Middlebury College. Over the years, Joel worked at radio stations WJOY, WQCR, WDOT, WDEV and WVAA where he served at various times as Morning Announcer, Program Director and News Director.
