Passenger Rail Projects Moving Forward

Toby Talbot

Vermonters are looking forward to passenger rail service to Montreal sometime in the future.

Anyone who has visited to Europe has found that getting around from country to country and city to city can be done efficiently by train. But then you return home to find that rail travel in the U.S. is isolated to very specific regions and cities.

There are several projects in various stages of development that could change the passenger rail map over the next decade.

VPR's Jane Lindholm spoke with Dan Delabruere, the Rail Program Director for VTrans, for an update on some of the rail projects in the works or the planning stages around the state.

Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
Jane Lindholm is the host, executive producer and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids. In addition to her work on our international kids show, she produces special projects for Vermont Public. Until March 2021, she was host and editor of the award-winning Vermont Public program Vermont Edition.
