Your brain needs fructose and glucose. But your body can really do without the high fructose corn syrup or sucrose. And all those other added sugars hiding in processed foods and sweetened drinks.
That's why the American Heart Association has done a review of over 125 references to determine risks children ages 2 to 18 face from added sugar.
We hear from Dr. Rachel Johnson, professor of nutrition at UVM, about those risks and why it's important to keep added sugars away from your kids.
Also on the program, there's a group of weather watchers out there measuring precipitation on your behalf. Jay Shafer, professor of atmospheric sciences at Lyndon State College, explains about the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network (CoCoRaHS).
