The Agency of Human Services is charged with addressing the thorniest social problems facing Vermonters: poverty, prisons, child abuse, elder care. Monday on Vermont Edition, our guest is the leader of that agency, Doug Racine. We'll look at the major challenges this agency is trying to address, and the money it takes to do the work.

The floating Bridget in Brookfield has been closed since 2007, cutting off a prime route from one side of town to the other. Now, the Agency of Transportation is planning to re-open the bridge by the fall of next year. Perry Kacik of the Brookfield Historical Society gives the history of the bridges that have floated across Sunset Lake for the past two centuries.
