Author Howard Norman

Wed, Aug 7 Noon and 7 PM  Howard Norman is the author of such  acclaimed novels as “The Bird Artist” and “The Northern Lights,” both which were National Book Award finalists.

His latest book – “I Hate to Leave This Beautiful Place” – is a memoir. It explores significant events in his life that took place in the Midwest, Canada, Washington, DC and here in Vermont. The New York Times says it “is a memoir that makes its own quietly dazzling little universe.” In it, the East Calais author writes about events like the death of a swan, being threatened by an Inuit shaman or the suicide of a poet in his Washington home that have affected his life and shaped his writing.
