Lifestyles Of The Slimy And The Scaly (Amphibians And Reptiles)

Alden Pellett

AP

Fri 8/23/13 Noon & 7PM The bad news is Vermont only has 40 species of amphibians and reptiles. The good news is, if you’re a herpetologist, it’s easy to get to know a lot about all the snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles and salamanders you’ll encounter here.

Jim Andrews, coordinator of the Vermont Reptile and Amphibian Atlas, will introduce us to a lot of them and explain some of the issues they’re facing. And Steve Faccio shares information on the vernal pool mapping project being conducted by the Vermont Center for Ecostudies.

Also on the program, VPR’s John Dillon discusses how a weak transmission network could curtail wind projects in the Northeast Kingdom.

Plus, we’ll listen back to voices in the news this week.
