Art Hounds: Tangled Up In Bob

Judy Copa of Calais is an arts patron who recommends the Sixth Annual Great Green Mountain Bob Dylan Wannabe Contest.

The singing contest is next Friday, January 24 at the Montpelier High School Auditorium and is part of Montpelier's weekend-long Frostival celebration.

Retreat director Robert Bowler suggests the Stone Church Arts' Festival of Mandolin Chamber Music workshop and concert this weekend in Bellows Falls.

The mandolin chamber music concert, featuring renowned Boston-area composer and teacher August Watters, is Sunday at 3 p.m., at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 20 Church Street in Bellows Falls. Bruce Lierman is a follower of the plastic arts and highly recommends the new exhibit up at the Unitarian Universalists' Meeting House in Bennington, featuring three Vermont artists.

The works of John Chambers, Judith Kniffin and Amy LaPorte will be up through the end of February and to see the show, call the meeting house at 802-440-9816.

Jen Zoller suggests the free showing of the Vermont-made film by Kingdom County Productions, The Hungry Heart, next Thursday, January 23 at 6 p.m. at the UVM Carpenter Auditorium in the Given Building.

The showing includes a Q&A session with filmmaker Bess O'Brien and some of the families represented in the film.
