Local Legends And The January Thaw

Music inspired by the "January thaw," (which arrived right on schedule last week),  by an all-star concert this week at Central Vermont Union High School in support of the grassroots community organization Responsible Growth Hinesburg, and also a preview of the Northern Routes Traditional Music Festival in Brattleboro this weekend!

This week's calendar announcements:

Local Legends at Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg: Friday January 24th at 7 p.m. Local musicians get together to support Responsible Growth Hinesburg, a grassroots community organization. Featured performers include Jamie Masefield with Doug Perkins, Tyler Bolles, and Jon Fishman; Michael Chorney/Maryse Smith; and Pete Sutherland with Oliver Scanlon and Tristan Henderson.

The Modern Grass Quintet will play on Saturday, Jan 25th at the Brandon Music Cafe, Brandon, VT at 7:30 p.m.

Bagitos Café in Montpelier presents two different music events on Saturday 1/25: an Irish session from 2-5 p.m. featuring  Sarah Blair, Hilari Farrington Koehler, Benedict Koehler, Katrina VanTyne and many others, and Waves of Adrenaline from 6-8pm. Contemporary Folk with Alana Shaw and Bridget Ahrens.

The Walkover Café in Bristol presents Mary McCaslin on Saturday January 25th at 8 p.m.

Bob and the Troubadors will play at Sweet Melissa’s in Montpelier on Saturday January 25th at 7 p.m.

Tim Eriksen and the Trio de Pumpkintown will be performing upstairs at the Esther Mesh Gallery in the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph on Saturday January 25th.

The Montreal bluegrass combo Notre Dame de Grass will be performing on Saturday January 25 at Petit Campus, 57 Prince Arthur E.  

The Bright Wings Chorus will perform on Friday, Jan. 24th at 7:30 p.m. at the Sandglass Theater in Putney, Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Old Firehouse in Tinmouth at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, Jan. 26th at 7 p.m. with the Ollabelles at The Old Meeting House in Montpelier

The Northern Routes Traditional Music Festival at the New England Youth Theater, 100 Flat Street in Brattleboro with afternoon sessions at McNeill’s Brewery will be held on Saturday January 25th – featured artists include Tony Barrand, Andy Davis, Lydia Ievins,  Mary Lea, Megan MacArthur, Randy Miller, Keith Murphy, Lissa Schneckenburger, Brenday Taafe, Beck Tracy, and many more.

Bill Staines will perform at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday Jan. 24th

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
