Last week the Senate passed a bill which would require most new construction within 250 feet of a lake shoreline to get a permit. The bill, which passed in the House last spring, is now in conference committee. Opponents say the bill imposes a burden on small landowners. Some environmentalists say the bill doesn't go far enough to protect water quality.
We'll discuss how this bill will be implemented when it becomes law with David Mears, the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation. We’ll also hear from David Deen, chair of the House Fish and Wildlife Committee.
