Music For Our First Summer Sunday

The Starline Rhythm Boys, playing this week in a free noontime concert in downtown Burlington.

Now that summer has really begun, the outdoor concert season is here, and it's also festival time !  We preview the upcoming Jenny Brook Family Bluegrass Festival in Tunbridge, and marvel at shows starting to happen on village greens all over the VPR listening area...as well as Lucinda Williams at the Flynn Center in Burlington and David Bromberg at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center.

The program will air on Sunday, June 22nd from 7:00-10:00 p.m.

This weeks calendar announcements:
 
Ricardo Lemvo  y Makina Loca will provide the music for a free Hopkins Center concert on the Dartmouth College green on Thurs. June 20th at 5:00 p.m.  In case of rain the concert will be held in Dartmouth’s Spaulding Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion will perform at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, June 29th

The Strafford Common Concert Series presents Sensible Shoes with special guest Jim Rooney on Tues. June 24th at 6:00 p.m.  The rain venue is the Strafford Town House.

The Bayley-Hazen Boys will perform in concert on Fri. June 27th at  7:00 p.m. on the front lawn of Bradford Academy in Bradford.

McBride & Lussen will be appearing at the Stowe farmers market on the Mountain Road on Sun. June 29th at 10:30 a.m.

Bramblewood - Carol Hausner, Danny Coane & Colin McCaffrey with Dale Cavanaugh, will perform at Sweet Melissa’s on Langdon Street in Montpelier on Thurs. June 26th at 7:30 p.m.

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe welcomes back the David Bromberg Quintet on Sat. June 28th at 8:00 p.m.

On Fri. June 27th 7:30 pm. Catamount Coffeehouse at Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury will feature Hawk Mountain: Samantha Moffatt and Michael Gareau playing Appalachian fiddle tunes and Quebecois music on hammered dulcimer.

The Michelle Fay Band will play on Wed. June 25th at 7:00 p.m. at Currier Park in Barre.

The Feast and Field Market in Barnard presents Bow Thayer and friends on Thurs. June 26th at Heartwood Fable Collective Farm. Music begins at 5:30 p.m.

The Jenny Brook Family Bluegrass Festival will be held from Thurs. June 26th through Sun. June 29th in Tunbridge.  Featured performers include the Gibson Brothers, Bob Amos & Catamount Crossing, The Travelin’ McCourys, The Lonesome River Band, and many many more.

The Starline Rhythm Boys will be providing a free concert in City Hall Park in Burlington at noon on Wed. June 25th.  The Burlington bluegrass band Possumhaw will be playing at the same time and place on Fri. June 27th.

Lucinda Williams and her band will be performing on the Flynn mainstage in Burlington on Sat. June 28th.

Festival Chants de Vielles will be held in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, QC on June 27th – 29th. Featured performers will include Patrick Bouffard, Karan Casey, Lisa Ornstein, Andre Marchand, and Normand Miron, and many many more.
