Fran Bull's 'Stations' Invites Visitors To Walk Between Galleries

Brandon artist Fran Bull's current exhibit, now showing at both the Chaffee Gallery and the Castleton Downtown Gallery in Rutland, is called Stations. The 14 larger-than-life sculptural paintings, as she describes them, encourage visitors to move from one piece, and one story, to the next.

Bull spent her Saturdays as a child exploring the art at her local museum. She studied painting at Bennington College and earned an M.A. in art education.

She says Stations is an allusion to the Stations of the Cross in the Christian tradition, "but also it alludes to a journey, and also each piece is an individual journey. And having them in two places requires that people, in order to see the whole series, walk between one gallery and the other."

Bull will give an artist talk at Paramount Theater in Rutland on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Both the Chaffee and Castleton Downtown Galleries will be open post-talk for community members to visit the exhibit.
