Vermont Yankee's Next Chapter

Vermont Yankee's run of 42 years comes to an end on December 29.

The Vermont Yankee nuclear plant has been operating since 1972. Now, we're less than two weeks away from the plant closing for good. And while it will stop producing energy, life will continue at the plant with the storage of spent fuel and the decommissioning of the plant.

We learn what's next for Vermont Yankee from Entergy Vice President of External Affairs Mike Twomey and Vermont's Public Service Commissioner Chris Recchia. They discuss where the state and Entergy have agreed on decommissioning and where negotiations are continuing. We also hear from Windham Regional Commission Executive Director Chris Campany on how the local communities will cope with the reduction of jobs in the area.

Also on the program, we have a special holiday gift for our listeners. Alt-country crooner Lowell Thompsonand his band perform live.
