On our annual St. Patrick's Day show, we sample some of the amazing variety (and exquisite quality) of music from and about Ireland released over the past 50 years, and preview some of the many musical events happening in our area this week.

Please note:  This program will air on Sunday March 15th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor will be performing at the Kingdom Taproom in St. Johnsbury on Friday, March 20th at 7:30 p.m.

Bagitos in Montpelier presents its regular Irish session on Saturday March 21st at 2 p.m. featuring Sarah Blair, Hilari Farrington, Benedict Koehler, Katrina VanTyne, Bob Ryan, and many other talented traditional Irish musicians.

Francesca Blanchard will perform at the Light Club Lamp Shop on N. Winooski Ave. in Burlington on Friday March 20th and at the South End Kitchen on Pine St. in Burlington on Saturday March 21st.

Scott Ainslie will perform at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday March 20th at 8 p.m.  The Café Lena will also present Ellis Paul on Saturday March 21st and  Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys on Sunday March 22nd .

The Waxwing Four, an a cappella quartet featuring Wheaton Squier, Brendan Taaffe, Adam Jacob Simon, and Stefan Amidon, will perform at the Old Firehouse in Tinmouth on Saturday March 21st at 7:30 p.m.

Dave Keller will be playing at four different venues this week in the VPR listening area – for more information, check his website:  davekeller.com    

The Green Mountain Playboys will perform at Charlie O’s in Montpelier on Friday March 20th and at the Maple Fest in Cabot on Saturday March 21st.

Gypsy Reel will be at the Sitting Bull Lounge at Okemo from 2:30-5:30 p.m. and at the Killarney in Ludlow at 7 p.m. on Tuesday March 17th 

Young Tradition Vermont presents a concert for St. Patrick featuring the Sligo-Bound-Six, the Zeichners, Gus La Casse, and the Mcfadden Academy Of Irish Dance on Saturday, March 21st at the McCarthy Arts Center of St. Michael’s College.  Music begins at 7 p.m.

A contra dance featuring caller Mary Wesley with Pete’s Posse providing live music will be held at the Tinmouth Community Center on Friday March 20th from 8 – 11 pm.  All dances are taught, and you do not need a partner.  If you are a beginner, come at 8 for a beginner’s session. 

Duo Eamon, performing in the dance tradition of Ireland, New England and Quebec, will be at the Meetinghouse Cafe in Bennington on March 20th at 8 p.m. The cafe is located at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bennington, 108 School St.

Laura Molinelli and the Bondville Boys will perform at the Phelps Barn in Grafton on Saturday March 21st at 8 p.m.

Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle will perform in Richmond on Sunday March 22nd at 4 p.m. at the Richmond Congregational Church. 

Dave Gunning will perform at Petit Campus in Montreal on Saturday March 21st.
