The federal HIghway Trust Fund is facing an uncertain future.

In recent years, taxes from higher gas prices, generous federal highway funding, and money poured into Tropical Storm Irene recovery helped the state make progress in repairs to transportation infrastructure.

Now the effect of lower gas prices on some funding, the uncertain future of the  federal Highway Trust Fund, and the end of Irene money are creating a transportation shortfall.

We talk with Rep. Pat Brennan and Sen. Dick Mazza, who chair the legislature's transportation committees, about what the decline in revenue will mean for road and bridge projects.
