John Campbell is president pro tempore of the Vermont Senate.

The school district consolidation bill that passed the House is now being debated in state Senate, where lawmakers are taking a dimmer view of mandatory consolidation than their colleagues in the House did.

That's one of the topics that we'll discuss with our guest, John Campbell, the president pro tem of the state Senate. We also look at a tax bill that could balance the state budget, and the possibility of creating stricter rules around childhood immunizations.

Also in the program, a look at the most controversial bills and their prospects for passage. Reporter Neal Goswami of the Vermont Press Bureau joins us to look at a plan to reduce the health care cost-shift through a payroll tax, and paid sick leave.

Broadcast live on Fri., April 17, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
