Gym classes in Vermont are evolving with the adoption of new physical education and health standards.

The Vermont State Board of Education adopted new standards for physical education and health classes this past May. Physical educators will now have access to national resources from SHAPE America and the National Health Education Standards, mirroring the introduction of Common Core in other subjects. The goal? Promoting lifelong healthy habits in students.

We speak to Lindsay Simpson, Physical Education Coordinator at Vermont Agency of Education; Betsey Caldwell, the President of the Vermont Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and Richmond Elementary physical educator Brian Godfrey.

Also on the program, Silent Cal. Or at least the man who has impersonated him for the past 30 years. Jim Cooke's final performance as President Calvin Coolidge is this 4th of July at the Coolidge Homesteadin Plymouth Notch.

Plus, ever since the NFL claimed the New England Patriots tampered with the footballs used in this year's AFC Championship game, fans have been buzzing about who did what and when. We talk with Mike DeSarno, a biostatistician at the UVM College of Medicine, about the conclusions he's drawn from the data used by the NFL.

Broadcast live on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
