Baseball's Heading Towards The Break

Entering the baseball season, local favorites - the Yankees and the Red Sox - had a lot of questions.

The Yanks had to replace future Hall-of-Famer Derek Jeter and hope that Alex Rodriguez could quickly fit back into the team. The Sox signed some free agent sluggers but there were serious doubts about the starting rotation.

Now, just days from the All-Star Break, some questions have been answered, but many remain. Who will be sellers and who will be buyers as the trade deadline approaches? Have the Astros become a legitimate contender or are they playing over their heads? Will the Cubs end decades of despair and finally make it back to the World Series?

Our panel of baseball experts - Fox 44 Sports Director Erin Cofiell, Burlington State Representative Kurt Wright, and VPR's Mitch Wertlieb - assess the season so far and try to predict what we'll see the rest of the year.

Plus we'll learn about Vermont's earliest known organized baseball team from Vermont baseball historian Tom Simon. And get an update on the Vermont Mountaineers from General Manager Brian Gallagher.

Broadcast live on Friday, July 10, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
