My Place: Sun Records Blues

elvis_pic.jpg

Sam Phillips' Sun Records was one of the most influential record companies in the 1950s during the formative years of the emerging rock & roll era.  Famous for releasing Elvis Presley's first commercial singles, Sun Records also recorded some of the finest southern blues of the 1950s and these records are sampled this week on My Place.  Memorable recordings by Rufus Thomas, James Cotton and Little Junior Parker are among the selections featured.
