Focus On Plattsburgh
As the crow flies, Plattsburgh and Burlington are less than 20 miles from each other. Both are located on the shores of Lake Champlain and are home to a state university.
But while one awaits the arrival of a new model of military aircraft and has attracted web-based businesses, the other is rebounding from the closure of the Air Force base that brought it many well-paying government jobs.
We speak with Plattsburgh Press-Republican Staff Writer Joe Lotemplio, Plattsburgh Mayor James Calnon and Plattsburgh City Council Member and Strand Center for the Arts Executive Director Joshua Kretser to learn about the successes the city has had and the challenges it still faces.
Also on the program: witness the power of this fully operational public radio station. We'll talk with author and science fiction expert Andrew Liptak of Geek Mountain State and the 501st Legion for a Vermont view of Star Wars fandom as the new movie's release approaches.
Broadcast live on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
