How Author/Illustrator David Macaulay Creates

DK/Penguin Random House
David Macaulay's latest book follows the exploits of a sloth and a sengi who want to escape from the zoo.

He has taught us about castles, cathedrals and pyramids. And has shown us how machines and our bodies operate.

Author and illustrator David Macaulay's latest book, "How Machines Work: Zoo Break!" chronicles the exploits or two restless zoo animals who attempt to get sprung from their cages using pulleys, levers, and gears.

We get to pick the brain of David Macaulay about his new book, his creative process, and the millions of readers who have been inspired by his books.

Also on the program, VPR's Taylor Dobbs has reviewed correspondence between Vermont Gas Systems and the Public Service Department regarding the proposed natural gas pipeline from Chittenden County south to Middlebury. He updates us on what he found.

Broadcast live on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
