Career And Technical Education In Vermont

Enrollment in career and technical education programs in the state is growing. We're going to talk what's available in Vermont, and who's choosing this option.

With a tricky job market and college tuition at daunting levels, career and technical education - once called vocational education - may be looking more and more appealing to today's students.

We're looking at the landscape of career and tech education programs here in Vermont: what's offered, who's choosing this option, and how educators address the bias that's still out there against the choice

We're joined by Jay Ramsey, Vermont state director of career technical education, and by Leeann Wright, director of the Northwest Technical Center in St. Albans.

Also on the program: Vermont health commissioner Harry Chen on getting the overdose drug Narcan into the hands of regular Vermonters.

And music contributor Matt Bushlow on the story of musician and booker Joe Adler.

Broadcast live on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
