'StoryCorps' Vermont: Father And Daughter Talk About What's Most Important

StoryCorps
Steve Hinds and his daughter Sophia Robins talk about what's really important in life.

Steven Hinds and his daughter Sophia Robins of Montpelier brought laughter to the StoryCorps mobile booth as they shared a wide ranging conversation about what's most important to them.

Sophia was adopted from China and had multiple surgeries to correct a hearing disability. She said she is proudest of learning to speak English, and she says her friends "help me know who I am from the inside - I'm funny, I'm caring and I'm thoughtful."

Their conversation was one of dozens recorded during August while the StoryCorps mobile booth was at the Echo Center in Burlington. StoryCorps is a national initiative to record and collect stories of everyday people. Excerpts were selected and produced by VPR.

Chris was Vermont Public Radio Audio Engineer for more than 20 years. In addition to his work for VPR, he has supervised the sound for television documentaries for the Discovery Channel, Turner Broadcast, and the Arts and Entertainment Network. Chris retired in December, 2020.
Franny was VPR's Director of Programming & Production.
