A coalition of organizations have set an ambitious new goal for higher education in Vermont. We're talking about a new push for to get to 70% of Vermonters with post-secondary degrees by 2025.

There's a new push to get more Vermonters better educated. The goal is 70 percent of the population with a college or other post-secondary degree by 2025.

We're talking about the goal, who's behind it, and the challenges and opportunities facing higher education in our state.

We're joined by Scott Giles, the CEO of the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation. Also by Lisa Ventriss, president of the Vermont Business Roundtable.

Also on the program: historian Kenneth Davis on his new book: "In the Shadow of Liberty: The Hidden History of Slavery, Four Presidents, and Five Black Lives."

Broadcast live on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
