When it comes to food, we see lots of labels like "all natural," "free range" and others that have no legal definition, are unverified or meaningless. But Health Hero Farm in South Hero is, in fact, certified 100 percent grass-fed and animal welfare approved, and recently received a grant to promote why those certifications matter.
After visiting the farm, Seven Days food writer Melissa Pasanen stopped by The VPR Cafe to chat about Health Hero owners Joan Falcoa and Bob Fireovid, their humanley-raised livestock, and the experience and knowledge the couple brought from Washington, D.C. to Vermont. She also explains the challenges of creating a profitable business while striving to meet the standards for grass feeding and animal welfare.
