For individuals with dementia, in most cases there is at least one caregiver who is helping them navigate life with memory loss. We look at the challenges these caregivers face while watching their loved one struggle with this condition.
We listen back to our program from July 2017 when we spoke with Sheila Dooley and Rob Backlund, who have both provided care for family members suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
We also spoke with Pamela Beidler, who was programs and outreach director for the Alzheimer's Association's Vermont Chapter, about the services and support available to caregivers.
And then we hear from Dr. Michael LaMantia, a geriatrician and Director of the Center on Aging at UVM, who discusses the importance of caring for these caregivers.
Broadcast on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
