President and head distiller, Ryan Christiansen, in the distilling room of Caledonia Spirits' new facility in Montpelier.

A Vermont distillery recently moved operations from The Northeast Kingdom to the capitol city and its new location is as sweet as the honey infused in its spirits. Caledonia Spirits, previously in Hardwick, now has a beautiful, new space in Montpelier which also includes a bar and store.

The spirit maker's new facility has grown from 6,500 to 27,000 square-feet and not only accomodates production, but also includes a retail store and a chic bar overlooking the Winooski River. In this episode, Seven Days food writer Melissa Pasanen tells us more about Caledonia Spirits spiffy location and how the use of honey in their beverages was inspired by a quote from 1811 in a Peacham newspaper.

Discover more about their drinks, tours and history in Pasanen's article, "Caledonia Spirits Distillery Expands in Montpelier, Adding Bar and Store."
