Members of the Wolcott Board of Civil Authority count paper ballots for a selectboard seat at Town Meeting Day on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

Town Meeting Day saw Vermonters weigh in on major issues that will shape their communities for years to come, like major school bonding projects, charging local option taxes, forming broadband districts to expand high-speed internet access and more. We look at Town Meeting Day results and the big issues Vermont towns took up this year.

Our guests are:

  • Amy Noyes, VPR's Lamoille County and Northeast Kingdom reporter, discusses the outcomes of votes on broadband communications districts, local option taxes, and the trend of towns dropping citizen staffers in favor of professionals.
  • Jeff Francis, executive director of the Vermont Superintendents Association, discusses school budgets and major school bonding projects statewide.
  • John Dillon, VPR senior reporter with Town Meeting outcomes from the Mad River Valley
  • Liam Elder-Connors, VPR's Chittenden County reporter, shares updates on the Progressive/Democratic contest for seats on Burlington's city council.

Broadcast live on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
