Vermont Child Care Centers Can Reopen But Worry About Risks
Gov. Scott allowed child care centers to reopen starting June 1, but there has been some pushback from early childhood educators and parents concerned about the health and safety of children and teachers. This hour, we speak with the Department for Children and Families as well as some child care directors and teachers about the reopening of these centers.
Our guests are:
- Steven Berbeco, deputy commissioner of the Child Development Division at the Department for Children and Families
- Nicole Walker, director at AppleTree Learning Centers in Stowe
- Dawn Irwin, director and educator at Growing With Wonder early childhood center in Essex
- Isla Bristol, preschool teacher at Turtle Island Children's Center in Montpelier
The Vermont Department of Health has public health nurses available to childcare, summer, or afterschool programs to answer health related childcare, summer, or afterschool questions from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
