Fond Farewells, and a Bright New Year

Thinking about local musicians David Surette and Leanne Ponder, and also about South African civil rights legend Bishop Desmond Tutu, all of whom passed away during December, and with hopes for a better new year for us all.

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of bluegrass, jazz, gypsy, classical, and roots music by three of Vermont’s finest mandolinists - Will Patton, Matt Flinner, and Jamie Masefield - accompanied by acoustic bassist Pat Melvin on Saturday, January 8 at 7:30 pm at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in downtown Putney, VT. Fiddler/singer Lissa Schneckenburger opens the show.

The Cabot Village 12th Night Celebration will be held in and around Cabot on Saturday, January 8th from 12 noon - 9pm. Free Admission For All Events. Musicians will include Dave Keller, the Brass Balagan, Morris Dancing with Midnight Capers, and much more.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, VPR's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that "aims to reward the pinnacle of arts leadership in a state blessed with creative energy disproportionate to its population." He is also the recipient of the 2022 Magaret Kannestine Arts Advocacy Award from the Vermont Arts Council, and is a 2023 inductee to the International Folk Alliance's FolkDJ Hall of Fame.
