How do you keep your spirits up while staying in? This hour, we're taking your calls on how you're doing and what you turn to when it's too cold to be outside.

Live call-in discussion: It's been an especially cold few weeks in Vermont. So, how are you cultivating hygge? The Danish and Norwegian word hygge — which means finding comfort in coziness and simple, soothing things — is especially important for keeping your spirits up while staying in. This hour, we're taking your calls about how you're doing, how you're feeling and how you're keeping busy when the temperatures make it hard to be outside.

Also this hour, an excerpt fromBrave Little State, VPR’s people-powered journalism project, about the challenges facing compost facilities and Vermonters alike since the state banned food scraps from the trash in July 2020.

Broadcast live on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 at noon.
