New Publishing Company Committed To Green Philosophy

Dede Cummings of Brattleboro is the founder of Green Mountain Press, an eco-friendly publishing company.

You’ve heard the term localvore as it relates to growing, producing and buying your food locally. But now a Vermont publishing company has adopted the philosophy.

Green Writers Press has pledged that all of their books will be printed in Vermont, using environmentally friendly processes.

And it promises to focus on topics that spread a message of environmental activism.

Dede Cummings of Brattleboro is the founder of Green Mountain Press, and is also an occasional VPR commentator.

She says the company will utilize local print-on-demand services utilizing post-consumer waste paper instead of virgin timber.

Cummings is excited that Vermont author Howard Frank Mosher has signed on as a contributor and advisor.

Neal was a reporter and VPR's All Things Considered host from 2001 to 2014. He joined VPR in 1996, hosting VPR's jazz programming, including live performances from the VPR studios and the Discover Jazz Festival. Prior to VPR, Neal was a programmer and host for WNCS in Montpelier and WDEV in Waterbury. He holds a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.
