New PAC To Boost Pro-Business Candidates

Two state representatives have launched a new political action committee that will try to play a decisive role in local House and Senate races this fall.

Stowe Republican Heidi Scheuermann and Middlebury Democrat Paul Ralston say their group, called Vision to Action Vermont, will lend financial support to the campaigns of candidates who vow to push for economic development initiatives in Montpelier.

"There aren't that many seriously competitive races in Vermont, so I think in those cases where there are competitive races, we can help." - Rep. Paul Ralston

Ralston says the group won’t have any ideological litmus tests, and that he anticipates the PAC will support both Republican and Democratic candidates who commit to supporting pro-business legislative policies.

“There aren’t that many seriously competitive races in Vermont, so I think in those cases where there are competitive races, we can help,” Ralston said.

Ralston, founder and CEO or Vermont Coffee Company who is not running for another term, said he and Scheuermann have identified candidates they intend to support, but said it was premature to disclose their names, or the districts in which they’re running.

Ralston said he and Scheuermann, who served together on the House Committee on Economic Development, have each donated $1,000 to the PAC as start-up money, and that they plan to raise significantly more money in the coming weeks and months.
