Encouraging Liquid Creativity: Burlington's Paint & Sip Studio
Many know the term "liquid courage," that trait of supposed bravery that can sometimes be summoned with an alcoholic beverage or two. But how about "liquid creativity"?
Catherine Hover, owner of Burlington's Paint & Sip Studio, a space on the Church Street Marketplace that serves up beer and wine to its classes of amateur painters, says that the creativity has been flowing freely since opening night in early January.
Hover owns two other studios in Latham and Saratoga Springs, New York, and opened the Burlington location to accommodate all the Vermonters who would travel across the lake for painting classes.
The concept of pairing a painting party with wine has gained popularity in the United States and Canada recently, with about 200 such studios in both countries. Hover says that the laid-back approach to their painting classes is what draws people in. The wine doesn't hurt, either.
