New Little Libraries, Just In Time For Fireside Reading

This little library was put up by a St. Johnsbury resident, in front of his home on Boynton Ave.

There's something magical about spending this season's long, dark nights inside the pages of a book. If you're searching for your next good read, you just might find it at a little free library – possibly one of the two new little libraries in Chittenden County.Vermont has over 20 Little Free Libraries listed on the interactive world map of registered Little Free Libraries. Among them is a library opening this week at 21 Bernard St., in Winooski. That library is sponsored by Marron Holdings owner Ron Stotyn. According to a press announcement, Winooski Mayor Seth Leonard will deliver remarks at a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. It is the first Little Free Library listed in Winooski.

That said, there are many independent little libraries that are not registered and listed online. The town of Bolton maintains a couple of little libraries, where readers can take and/or leave books. The Bolton Little Libraries are nicknamed BOLLs.

According to the December 2015 edition of the Bolton Gazette, a new BOLL is now open at the Bolton town office. The new BOLL was built by Will Peery, with decorating help from Holly Rae Taylor, Rosa Ricketson, Jenn Dudley Gaillard, Loree Silvas, Tony Barbaga llo, Steve Peery, and Amy Ludwin.

Another BOLL used to be located near the bottom of the Bolton Valley Access Rd. but has been moved to 455 Duxbury Rd. "to accommodate readers of all ages on the south side of the river," according to the Bolton Gazette.
