Vermont Department of Corrections officials say they are investigating a suicide attempt by an inmate at Northwest State Correctional Facility in Swanton.
Officials say corrections staff immediately performed CPR when they found the 25-year-old inmate after the attempt on Thursday.
The state didn’t release any further details about what happened or the inmate’s condition.
Officials identified the inmate and said his family has been notified. VPR is not publishing the inmate's name because of the sensitive nature of the incident.
The Vermont State Police, Agency of Human Services and Vermont Defender General are also investigating the suicide attempt, the release said.
