The Vermont Department of Labor announced Friday that the statewide unemployment rate held steady at 2.9 percent in October.

According to seasonally adjusted data, that puts Vermont well below the national average 4.1 percent unemployment.

The October data show the highest unemployment rate in the Derby labor market, and the lowest rate around White River Junction.

Employment data for this month is expected to be released Dec. 22.
