Watch: U.S. Senate Cloture Vote On Kavanaugh Nomination

The U.S. Senate is taking a cloture vote Friday on the U.S. Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, pictured here during his confirmation hearings in September.

Update 11:11 a.m. This morning the U.S. Senate held a cloture vote to close debate regarding U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, which advanced on a vote of 51-49.

While it was not the actual confirmation vote, Friday's procedural vote was a key step in moving the process forward. This weekend is when the final U.S. Senate vote on Kavanaugh's nomination is expected to take place.

The procedural vote was scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, and prior to the vote, select senators delivered remarks on the floor.
