A 19-year-old University of Vermont student was found dead Saturday morning in Burlington.
In an email to students, UVM’s vice provost for student affairs identified the young man as Connor Gage of Little Falls, New York, a first year student.
Jon Murad, Deputy Chief of the Burlington Police said video footage from early Saturday morning shows Gage cutting across a parking lot and attempting to climb a fence but failing to do so.
Police found the young man lying in the snow late Saturday morning.
They believe cold temperatures and inadequate clothing contributed to his death. Temperatures were below zero at the time.
According to emails to students, Gage was a member of the Wellness Environment, on-campus housing for students with programming geared toward healthy lifestyles. He was majoring in neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Police said there is no indication of foul play. They will continue to investigate the man’s condition and activities preceding his death. The university is offering counseling services to students.
