Vermont Public Radio 2019 Murrow Entry — Social Media

In 2019, VPR and its news staff used social media not only to share stories with our audience but to deepen understanding and engagement.

Through Instagram and Twitter, we share fun and aesthetic photos, videos and GIFs, as well as narrative threads, to broaden one’s experience of a story. Through platforms like Goodreads, we create book lists to go along with our semi-annual Vermont Edition book shows. With Facebook posts, we strive for productive and civil discussions to continue the conversation our stories started. And at our best, we use these platforms to disseminate tools like our Brave Little State map, which shows all the places in the state we have – and haven’t – visited for the podcast.
