VPR File
In this week's Community Report, VPR's Mary Engisch catches up on the news from Brattleboro, including efforts to add to a momument the omitted names of people of color who served in the Civil War.

This week, VPR's Mary Engisch spoke with Chris Mays, staff writer for the Brattleboro Reformer. Mays wrote about local middle school students who found the town's Civil War monument was missing many names of those who served who were predominantly people of color.

You can read Chris Mays' story in the Brattleboro Reformer here.

VPRreported on this issuein January. But as Mays writes in his more recent story, there is a renewed effort for the town to correct the omission following an instance of vandalism on a different but nearby veterans monument calling attention to the service of people of color.

Mays also reported on visiting the Brattleboro Area Farmers' Market, newly adapted for COVID-19.

Mary Williams Engisch is a local host on All Things Considered.
