Heavy snow is continuing to fall across parts of the region, as a slow-moving winter storm makes its way through the Northeast.
Meteorologist Mark Breen of the Fairbanks Museum says the storm is bringing bands of snow, leaving uneven snowfall amounts.
"I think it's one of those — look out your window,” Breen said. “If it's snowing hard where you are, and has been, it's likely to continue to do so. If it's not doing much, that's likely to be your forecast over the next several hours."
As of earlier Tuesday, snow totals ranged from a foot in parts of southern Vermont, to just an inch in parts of the north, according to the National Weather Service.
Conor Lahiff, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Burlington, says a snowstorm like this is typical for this time of year in Vermont.
“It's going to be your general kind of snowfall. This is going to be one of your normal snowfalls for this kind of year — relatively light snow, nothing too backbreaking," Lahiff said. "For us to get a fairly widespread 8-12 inches of snow in early February is kind of what we hope to expect.”
The National Weather Service in Burlington tweeted Tuesday afternoon that heavy snowfall in northern New York and northern Vermont has created difficult driving conditions, and that travelers should be careful.

Despite the snow, Vermont's COVID-19 vaccination sites stayed open Tuesday.
Vermonters aged 75 and older who have registered for an appointment were eligible for the shot, and health officials said anyone concerned about traveling could reschedule their appointments by calling 855-722-7878.
Those who do reschedule will be given a new appointment later in the week, and won't have to start the registration process over.
Health officials said those who registered to get vaccinated at Kinney Drugs should contact the store about whether they'll be open and rescheduling.
